What is Disciple?
Disciple is a Bible study program aimed at transforming, not just informing. But the process of transformation is unexpected!
You are...
NOT told how to think,
NOT told how to interpret the Bible,
NOT told what it means to you, and
NOT told what you should or should not do.
Instead, through Bible reading and group discussion, you will come to your own conclusions about how to interpret the Bible, what it means to you, and what you will do about your understanding. It is a study of the Bible, not Methodism or other denomination and the study is for EVERYBODY!
Disciple Studies
The first study, Disciple I, Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study is a prerequisite for taking all the other Disciple study programs.
None are typical of other educational courses since your participation in class is voluntary, there are no tests, no grades, no papers to write! A wonderful sense of trust and belonging develops in each group as they explore and discuss the Word.
Being part of a Disciple class takes a commitment to attend the 30-34 week sessions, which run from September to May. Half an hour of reading per day, or about 4-1/2 hours per week should prepare you for each session. Lay persons serve as facilitators to keep sessions moving.
REGISTRATION IS OPEN, SIGN UP TODAY! Sign up sheets are located on the church bulletin board for anyone interest in taking part in a class.
How Much Does the Class Cost? All the facilitators are volunteers. The church supplies the videos, Disciple complementing packages, meeting room, and other facilities.
Participants will purchase their own books which cost approximately $35.00 each. You will also need a study Bible. Recommended are the NIV Study Bible, New Oxford Study Bible, or the Revised English Study Bible. Scholarships are available.
